Capacity & Open Planet & See Through Stories
The Chiefs was a deeply personal and transformative project — a privilege that took me to the heart of the Amazon Rainforest, where we lived and filmed alongside the Tukano Indigenous community.
For generations, Indigenous peoples have protected this forest. Long before climate conferences or global movements existed, they were already caring for the land, understanding its rhythms, and defending it from destruction. This film centers their voices, their wisdom, and their role as the true guardians of one of the most important ecosystems on Earth.
Created as a call to action for the UN Climate Conference in Brazil, The Chiefs aims to remind the world that protecting the Amazon is inseparable from protecting the people who defend it every day.
Safeguarding Indigenous communities is not just part of the solution — it is the solution.
Living with the Tukano tribe, sharing their daily life, their stories, and their connection to the forest was an experience that will stay with me forever. This film is both a tribute to their strength and an urgent invitation to stand with them.
